How to Fit Your Ribbon Bookmark Into Your Bible Spine (Step-by-Step Guide)
One of the questions I get most often is:
“How do I actually put this bookmark into my Bible spine?”
It’s a great question! Let’s break it down in simple steps so you can see exactly how it works.

✅ What is the Spine Gap?
First, know that most Bibles have a small space right in the middle where the pages meet the binding. That’s your spine gap.
When you open your Bible flat, you’ll see a narrow groove running vertically along the center. That’s where the spine-grip part of your bookmark goes.
✨ Step 1: Open to the Center
✅ Lay your Bible on a flat surface.
✅ Open it near the middle so it lies comfortably.
✅ Gently press it open so you can see the inside spine gap clearly.
Don’t worry—it won’t damage your Bible. Most bindings are flexible enough for this.
✨ Step 2: Find the Groove
✅ Look right where the pages are sewn or glued in.
✅ You’ll see a little channel or gap—it might look narrow at first.
✅ That’s exactly where your spine-grip is meant to sit.
✨ Step 3: Insert the Spine-Grip
✅ Hold the top of your bookmark where the ribbons are attached.
✅ Gently slide the spine-grip part down into the gap.
✅ Wiggle it very slightly if needed to help it settle fully into place.
It’s designed to stay put once it’s in—without damaging the binding or falling out.
✨ Step 4: Test It
✅ Close your Bible to see how it holds.
✅ Give it a gentle shake.
✅ You’ll notice the bookmark stays anchored securely in the spine.
If it’s a very tight spine, try opening the Bible a few times to loosen it slightly. Some new Bibles need a little breaking in before the gap is easier to access.
💡 Pro Tip for Stiff Bindings
If your Bible is brand new or very stiff:
✅ Open it in sections (first 20 pages, next 20 pages, etc.) and gently press.
✅ This “trains” the spine to open more fully.
✅ After doing this once or twice, your bookmark will slide in much more easily.
❤️ Why It Works
The spine-grip design is intentional:
✅ It anchors securely without glue or adhesive.
✅ It won’t slide out when you carry your Bible.
✅ It protects your pages—no more folding or dog-earing!
📌 That’s It!
Your ribbons are now ready to mark your favorite passages, study plan, or daily readings—all without falling out.
