G’day and welcome!

I’m Cathy, the maker behind Kanga Goods. Originally from Chicago, I packed up my life (and my winter coat) and moved to Australia in late 2017. Talk about a sea change!

Settling into a new country is no small adventure. I needed something to ground me—to feel at home in a place where the gum trees tower, the magpies swoop, and everyone calls the afternoon the arvo. In 2019, my aunt gifted me my first sewing machine. It was the spark I needed to turn a new place into home.

But truth be told, sewing was always in my blood. My mum was an avid sewer—her love of making things by hand filled our home with warmth and creativity. When I sit at my machine, I feel a connection to her, and to all the women who’ve turned needle and thread into art, comfort, and care.

Kanga Goods grew out of that heritage—a blend of my American roots and my new Aussie life. I wanted to create gifts that felt genuinely Australian. Not the souvenir-shop boomerangs, but real keepsakes: things that tell a story, celebrate local beauty, and are made to last.

Here you’ll find high-quality, thoughtfully made gifts that share a bit of Aussie spirit wherever they go. I use beautiful Australiana prints (and sometimes other patterns that just make my heart sing) to create fabric bookmarks, keychains, and other goodies you’ll actually want to keep or give.

Everything is made right here in Australia, by me, with the kind of care you can only get from someone who really, really loves sewing.
